West Ham are reportedly closing in on the signing of Romanian starlet Darius Olaru from FC Steaua Bucharest, with the asking price set at £6.25million – and Hammers fans have reacted on Twitter to the news.

Olaru, 22, has impressed since moving to one of Romania’s biggest sides in FCSB back in January 2020. He has had a hand in 12 goals during his 29 league and cup appearances – while scoring four in 13 this season.

A 13-time Under-21 international for Romania, Olaru has plenty of potential and has been crucial in his club side’s 2020-21 campaign which sees them sit at the top of the Romanian top tier. They sit just one point clear, though.

Sport.Ro claim that West Ham are ‘very close’ to the signing of Olaru. It is believed that interested parties can nab Olaru for just £6.25million, a bargain figure for a player that is showing enormous promise.

The Hammers have benefited from using the European market of late – bringing in players from some of the continent’s lesser leagues. Vladimir Coufal and Tomas Soucek joined from Czech Republic and have starred.

Now, the East Londoners want to raid Steaua for Olaru and many responded on Twitter. Some are excited at the prospect of Olaru in a claret and blue shirt, while others are just desperate for a striker to be added.
