West Ham midfielder Declan Rice is being linked with a new improved deal at the London Stadium – and some of the club’s supporters on Twitter have responded by claiming it’s imperative they secure his long-term future.

According to the Sun, the Hammers are prepared to double Rice’s current wages with them to keep him.

It is claimed that the England international is currently on a £60,000-a-week deal, but West Ham are ready to offer a new £120,000-a-week deal and make him one of the highest paid players at the club.

The report explains that they want to reward him for his influence on the team and try work on a long-term contract for him, as that would also protect his transfer value amid interest from Premier League giants such as Chelsea.

Despite being aged just 21, Rice is arguably the most important player in the West Ham ranks and it would be a colossal blow of they lost him from their XI in the near future.

He’s got a real loyalty for the club having come through the academy and is a real leader on the pitch for them, which is why he’s more than deserved an improve contract.

The central midfielder is someone that is a defensive force in front of the backline and reads the game so well, plus he can get his team on the front foot with his passing and dribbling.
