West Ham fans react as club reportedly interested in signing Chelsea attacker

West Ham have reportedly shown interest in signing Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham this summer with the England ace falling down the pecking order – and Hammers supporters have responded to the reports on Twitter.

Abraham, 22, scored 18 goals for Chelsea last season despite clocking up 47 appearances in all competitions. His indifferent form in front of goal saw him drop out of the starting line-up towards the end of campaign, with Olivier Giroud replacing him.

Giroud has remained at the club this summer while Frank Lampard has also spent big to bring in Timo Werner from RB Leipzig. It sees London-born Abraham drop to third-choice striker at Chelsea, and perhaps in need of a loan move.

The Daily Mail state that West Ham have shown interest in Abraham this summer, while Aston Villa tried to bring him back to Villa Park earlier on in the window. The latter have since spent big to sign Ollie Watkins from Brentford.

West Ham currently boast Michail Antonio and Seb Haller as options up front. The latter has failed to live up to his price tag, though he has netted four goals in two Carabao Cup games this week – while Antonio goes from strength to strength.

A striker is probaly not deemed a necessity by West Ham’s under-fire board but Hammers supporters responded to the news that Abraham has been considered – and have urged their board to get a deal done for the Chelsea striker.
