West Ham United are reportedly interested in taking advantage of the extended transfer deadline for deals between Premier League and EFL clubs, by raiding Bournemouth for defender Steve Cook – and Hammers fans have responded on Twitter.

Cook, 29, has entered the final 12 months of his contract at recently-relegated Bournemouth – eight years after joining the club in January 2012. He has since clocked up a whopping 341 appearances in all competitions for the Cherries.

But his future may now be elsewhere than Bournemouth, especially with Bournemouth being relegated. According to a report from the Daily Star, West Ham are interested in signing Cook – while Watford giant Craig Dawson is an option.

The Hammers have been after a centre-back for the majority of the summer window. James Tarkowski was linked, as were plenty of options from around Europe – including new Leicester City signing Wesley Fofana from St. Etienne.

West Ham even reportedly saw a loan bid rejected for Chelsea and England defender Fikayo Tomori with momens remaining in the summer window. Now, they will have to turn to the Championship if they are to strenghthen.

Hammers fans reacted on Twitter to the reported news that West Ham are interested in signing Cook, and many believe the Bournemouth rock would be a better addition than Dawson – after entering the final year of his £45,000-a-week deal (Spotrac).
