West Ham United have been linked with numerous strikers since Sebastian Haller’s exit. The latest name to be thrown in their direction is RB Leipzig ace Hwang Hee-chan – and fans think he would be a top addition before the end of the month.
Hwang, 23, is enduring a difficult season following his move from RedBull Salzburg to RB Leipzig last summer for a fee of just £8million. He has managed just one goal in nine appearances, a stark contrast to his form in Austria.
Indeed, he scored 45 goals in 126 games – a ratio of more than one every three, as well as proving somewhat creative with 29 assists. He can play up front or in the 10 role, but Leipzig are ready to loan him out and West Ham have been linked.
Indeed, Sky Sport Austria claim West Ham are ‘very hot’ in pursuit of Hwang – who the Evening Standard once claimed had become good friends with South Korea captain and Tottenham Hotspur superstar Son Heung-min.
West Ham may find they have competition in pursuit of the striker, with Leipzig ready to loan him out. It is claimed Bundesliga clubs are ready to offer Hwang the chance to remain in Germany – though the Premier League could prove tempting.
West Ham fans have reacted on Twitter to the reports that they could be about to sign Hwang, and many feel he would be a good signing for David Moyes’ side. One fan even suggested he would be the “perfect replacement” for Michail Antonio.
