West Ham are reportedly interested in signing Manchester City defender Nathan Ake in the January window as the Hammers look to sign a centre-back – and Hammers fans have reacted on Twitter.
Ake, 26, is struggling for game time at City, given he is the club’s fourth-choice centre-back at The Etihad. Aymeric Laporte, John Stones and Ruben Dias are all ahead of the Netherlands international.
But the left-footed defender is easily a player with the quality to play for one of the Premier League’s top-six clubs. 90Min claim the interest is ramping up in pursuit of the ex-Chelsea man.
The latest report states that West Ham have become interested in £92k-a-week (Spotrac) Ake. The long-term injury suffered by Angelo Ogbonna has left David Moyes with just Issa Diop, Craig Dawson and Kurt Zouma as options.
The Hammers have qualified for the knockout stages of the Europa League after Christmas, and will need to use their entire squad to remain competitive on all four fronts. They are still in the Carabao Cup.

What do West Ham fans think of signing Manchester City ace Ake?
Ake would be a stunning signing for the Hammers. Whether that is initially on loan, with a view to a permanent move – or simply a permanent move next month – David Moyes has got to move.
West Ham fans have discussed the potential arrival of former Bournemouth star Ake on Twitter. Many believe the left-footed ace would be absolutely perfect for the London club in the coming weeks.
