West Ham are reportedly interested in signing Manchester United midfielder Nemanja Matic ahead of the January transfer window – but Hammers fans are desperate for their club to look elsewhere.
Football website 90Min have claimed that Matic, 31, is keen to leave Manchester United in the next window after managing just five appearances for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side this season. He is currently sidelined, missing the last seven matches.
The likes of Scott McTominay, Fred, Andreas Pereira and Paul Pogba are all ahead of Matic in the pecking order, as the 48-time Serbia international looks as though he has lost a yard of pace at the base of United’s midfield.

A bargain deal for the ex-Chelsea and Benfica star could be on the cards, given that his £120,000-a-week contract (Spotrac) is set to expire at the end of the season. The chances of United offering Matic a new deal to remain at Old Trafford is unlikely.
West Ham do have plenty of options in the middle of the park, in Mark Noble, Declan Rice, Jack Wilshere, Carlos Sanchez and Pablo Fornals, but it is clear that Manuel Pellegrini wants to bolster his ranks in central midfield.
Matic could be on his way to the London Stadium, then, but West Ham fans are begging their club to ignore signing Matic in the January window – and pursue other targets.
