West Ham were denied the chance to sign Fikayo Tomori on transfer deadline day when the Chelsea enforcer chose to stay at Stamford Bridge.
The Hammers were desperate to land themselves a defensive recruit during the transfer window and may now have to turn their attentions towards the Championship market.
Tomori, 22 was the subject of a loan bid that had been agreed with Chelsea but the England manager opted to stay put with the window set to close.
The centre-back has made two appearances in the Carabao Cup this season; whilst he also came on a half-time substitute against Liverpool.

He’d have been a welcome addition to the West Ham backline and it would have given him the chance to play some regular first-team football.
With Antonio Rudiger not securing a move away from the Blues, Tomori is back near the bottom of the pecking order and that won’t bode well.
West Ham are short at centre-back and would have given him a starring role in their defensive unit during 2020/21.
Supporters naturally had plenty to say regarding the Tomori disappointment and took to Twitter to vent their views.
Here is a selection of Tweets from West Ham fans as Tomori declines a move to the London Stadium.
