West Ham fans react as Celtic reportedly open talks for David Moyes

Celtic have reportedly made contact with West Ham United manager David Moyes through intermediaries in an attempt to lure the Hammers boss north of the border and back to boyhood club Celtic – prompting reaction from Hammers fans.

Moyes is a contender for manager of the season in the Premier League having taken over at the London Stadium for a second spell back in December 2019, replacing Manuel Pellegrini. He guided the Hammers to safety, and has taken them forward.

Some stunning work in the transfer window has been the foundation for Moyes to shine. Under his watch, he has brought in Jarrod Bowen, Jesse Lingard, Craig Dawson, Said Benrahma, Tomas Soucek and Vladimir Coufal – all of whom are impressing.

That, combined with installing an identity at the club and forming crucial relationships all over – has seen West Ham go into contention for Champions League football. They win their game in hand, and they leapfrog Chelsea into fourth place.

Unsurprising, then, that Moyes has suitors – especially with his contract due to expire this summer. Moyes came through the academy at Celtic during his playing days and TeamTalk claim Celtic have approached the Scottish boss ahead of the summer.

It is expected that West Ham will offer Moyes a new deal and with the position he is in, both in the table and with the fans, it is believed that Moyes will remain in London. But some Hammers fans have responded to reports that Celtic are in contact.
