West Ham United forward Marko Arnautovic has reportedly handed in a transfer request.
According to Sky Sports, the Austria international wants out of the London Stadium and has put forth a written request to leave – although that is disputed by football.london, who claim the player’s agent is ‘trying to flog the striker on the cheap’.
In January West Ham rejected a £35 million offer for Arnautovic, with the ex-Stoke City man then signing an improved contract.
Sky report that an unnamed club have made an offer to the Irons for the 30-year-old, who is one of just three strikers available for selection at the moment – the others being the exit-linked Javier Hernandez and Jordan Hugill, who is back at the club after a loan spell with Middlesbrough.
The £100,000-a-week star has made 65 appearances for the club, scoring 22 goals.
He is contracted until 2023, which should put West Ham in a strong position for any negotiations.
Manuel Pellegrini certainly has a decision to make now. Arnautovic is arguably the club’s best player and in an ideal world the Chilean would keep him.
That said, the 65-year-old has to consider the effect keeping him would have on the dressing room following the previous speculation about his future.
West Ham fans react
Many West Ham fans have expressed their frustration over the news, and the consensus appears to be that the controversial player should be moved on:
Said it before and will say it again…….if he, or anyone come to think of it, doesn’t want to be at the club, best they clear off asap !

Sell him anyway

Sell him, he is a mercenary, just wants a bigger pay day. He’ll go to China, earn stupid money then want to leave after 6 months. Take what we can and look elsewhere, don’t want him in our club or wearing our shirt anymore.

I’ve said all along he’ll be gone in the summer, no surprise at all. Get shot of him and don’t let this soap opera drag on any longer.
