West Ham United boss David Moyes enjoyed a happy return to Old Trafford last night as his side dumped Manchester United out of the Carabao Cup. Midfielder Alex Kral made his debut for the Hammers.
The Hammers secured a place in the fourth round thanks to an early strike from Manuel Lanzini.
That was it as far as the scoring went, with United unable to break down a resolute West Ham team, determined to make up for Sunday’s loss.
It was a big night for Kral. He was making his Hammers debut, having arrived from Spartak Moscow during the transfer window.

He looked calm and composed in central midfield and the former Slavia Prague player looks another shrewd signing by Moyes.
Kral had been on the bench for West Ham’s last three games in all competitions. Moyes opted to unleash him at Old Trafford though and he didn’t disappoint.
Who Scored produced some sound statistics for his efforts. He made three interceptions, five tackles and two clearances, during a solid defensive showing.
At 23 the man who will cost West Ham £12 million next summer already looks like a shrewd piece of business.
Tomas Soucek and Declan Rice look immovable components of Moyes’ team but Kral has given him some food for thought.
Future star: West Ham might have struck gold with Kral
This was an impressive start for the Czech Republic international. A game away at Old Trafford is about as tough as it gets but he wasn’t overawed at all.

Kral was mature in his performance and really commanded the midfield engine room.
Supporters were mightily impressed with the youngster’s showing and staying in the Carabao Cup should hand him another game in which to shine.
Here is a look at what the West Ham fan base had to say about Kral after his first performance in claret and blue.
