West Ham United suffered a heavy 3-0 defeat to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Monday night despite the match being somewhat equal at times – and Hammers fans have applauded the performance of attacker Jarrod Bowen.
David Moyes and the Hammers came into the match having picking up 13 points from a possible 18, losing only once to Manchester United and beating Fulham, Aston Villa, Leeds and Sheffield United.
Declan Rice had a goal disallowed against his old club inside the first 10 minutes, before 24-year-old Bowen poked home an effort after Thiago Silva had given Chelsea the lead – only for the Hammers to see a second effort ruled out.
Chelsea took advantage in the second half. While the Blues dominated possession, West Ham remained a threat on the counter until Tammy Abraham gave Frank Lampard’s side a cushion – tapping home from a Timo Werner shot.
England striker Abraham made it three late on, succumbing West Ham to just their fifth league defeat in 14 matches under Moyes this season. Bowen has been sensational this term, scoring four and creating two.
West Ham supporters have applauded the £96,000-a-week (Spotrac) winger for his efforts at Stamford Bridge, despite the emphatic defeat. Bowen will now be hoping to add to his four goals against Brighton on Sunday.

Jarrod Bowen is a few goals away from being a really, really good player at this level. #WHUFC

Been impressed by Jarrod Bowen always wanting the ball and looking to find openings. Not enough movement or players to with and around on.

Jarrod Bowen is so underrated. Imagine if the whole squad matched his work rate 😱 #WHUFC

Bowen’s been one of our best players today. Don’t wanna hear anyone slagging him off.
