Michail Antonio made a positive impact off the bench in the draw against Brighton on Wednesday night – and some West Ham fans on Twitter hailed him for his performance.

The Hammers earned a point in the Premier League fixture after a 2-2 home draw and had to fight back from a two-goal deficit.

Brighton raced into the lead at the London Stadium with two goals early in the second-half, but the turning point was in the introduction of Antonio and teammate Mark Noble in the 63rd minute.

Both substitutes produced assists for centre-forward Marko Arnautovic, as his brace drew Manuel Pellegrini’s team level and it means they climb to 10th in the league table.

West Ham now turn their attention to a third round FA Cup tie with Birmingham at the weekend, before hosting Arsenal in the league a week later.

A selection of West Ham fans on social media singled out Antonio for his second-half cameo and feel he made a major difference.

The 28-year-old injected some extra pace and power to the team’s attack, with his direct running so difficult for defenders to halt.

His versatility has seen him deployed at full-back recently by Pellegrini, but he showed his qualities going forward on the wing and proved that he’s in great form right now.
