Some West Ham fans on Twitter have been outraged by comments made by Aston Villa’s John McGinn after the recent meeting between the two teams.

West Ham travelled to Villa Park on Wednesday night for a Premier League fixture and went away with three points after an eye-catching performance.

David Moyes’ side sit fifth in the league table right now after winning 3-1 in the West Midlands.

Jesse Lingered scored twice on his Hammers debut following his arrival on loan from Manchester United, plus there was a customary goal from in-form midfielder Tomas Soucek.

However, 26-year-old Villa midfielder McGinn said post-match that visitors West Ham were organised to try draw the contest.

“I don’t think there was much between the teams, the way they set up, they came here for a point really,” McGinn said.

A selection of West Ham supporters on social media have reacted angrily to the claims.

A huge amount of success this season for the Hammers has come from their defensive shape and they take pride in the way they are at the back.

But the counter-attack with real pace and against Villa they had a remarkable 20 shot, with 10 of them on target.

They don’t play the eye-catching football like some of the teams in the division, but they’ve got flair players that are effective in possession and they are winning games right now with their method.
