Arthur Masuaku managed just the first-half before he was substituted off in the defeat to Leicester City – and some West Ham fans on Twitter raged at him for his performance.
The Hammers were heavily beaten away to the Foxes 4-1 in the Premier League and there was a major gulf in class between the teams at the King Power Stadium.
Harvey Barnes and Ricardo Pereira both scored to race the hosts into a half-time lead, before Mark Noble did at least respond with his penalty.
But Brendan Rodgers’ team went on to cruise to three points courtesy of Ayoze Perez’s brace.
West Ham are hovering just above the relegation places on goal difference, while Leicester are third in the table and look to be heading for a finish in the Champions League spots this season.
A selection of West Ham supporters on social media picked out Masuaku for criticism for his display.
Hammers boss David Moyes substituted the defender off at half-time as well as Robert Snodgrass to try change the game and it was a poor 45 minutes for him.
Masuaku had very little impact going forward despite his energy, while defensively he was all over the place at times and that is why Moyes decided to bring him off.
The left wing-back was tormented by Leicester’s Pereira and he was massively caught out of position for his goal at the end of the first-half.
The 26-year-old is a speed machine that is much better going forward and it’s too much of a risk to trust him in defensive positions.
Here are some West Ham fans on Diop:
Mas was suppose to be a wing back ….. totally out of position

He’s a baller but tactically clueless.

Masuaku LWB? Absolute liability, look at his positioning. What do people see in him pic.twitter.com/BiwUm1mDY0

Masuaku on walkabout for both goals

Does Masuaku know what position he’s playing? What on earth is he doing

Masuaku’s positioning is honestly atrocious. Ricardo Periera is finding so much space on this near side just had a half chance then too.
