West Ham were beaten by English champions Manchester City on Wednesday in a pre-season match – but some of the club’s supporters on Twitter were still pleased with what they saw from Manuel Lanzini.

The Hammers lost 4-1 in the Premier League Asia Trophy and they face Newcastle United in the next match of the competition.

Manuel Pellegrini’s side were in front through a Mark Noble penalty after a handball, but were eventually overrun by their opponents.

David Silva, Lukas Nmecha and Raheem Sterling (two) were on the scoresheet for heavyweights Manchester City.

Lanzini started for West Ham in the friendly match and showed signs that he’s beginning to get back to his best with some neat touches.

The attacking midfielder has had torrid luck with injuries in recent years and only played 10 times last season, as he returned from a long-term absence.

He is an Argentinian playmaker that can on his day be creative genius and is trying to work back towards that.

Lanzini, 26, is someone that controls play from the centre with his ability and is a big favourite at the London Stadium.

A selection of supporters on social media singled him out for credit after his individual contribution against Manchester City.
