West Ham fans hail Jack Wilshere on his return against Southampton

Jack Wilshere was given a cameo performance from the bench in the win over Southampton – and some West Ham fans hailed him for his performance.

The Hammers produced a comfortable home performance in the Premier League to beat Southampton 3-0 at the London Stadium.

Marko Arnautovic scored a goal in each half for the hosts, while defender Ryan Fredericks also netted to ensure three points.

Manuel Pellegrini’s side recorded a second successive win in the league and they managed to find some impressive form late into the season.

They travel to Watford on the final day of the season and may have given everyone a glimpse into what they can achieve next year.

A selection of West Ham fans singed out Wilshere for praise after he caught the eye off the bench.

Wilshere ended the action in the 68th minute for just his seventh senior appearance of the season and impressed with his brief time on the pitch.

The 27-year-old’s bad luck with injuries has meant he’s watched on from the sidelines for the most of this season.

But he had a hand with Fredericks for his goal against Southampton and many feel he will be a key player next season if he can avoid more bad luck with injuries.
