West Ham have confirmed the extent of Tomas Soucek’s injury – and some of the club’s supporters on Twitter are gutted by the news.
The Hammers have confirmed on their official website that the midfielder is likely to be out of action for three weeks.
He was forced off early in the second-half on Monday night during the 3-2 league defeat to Liverpool and has suffered a low grade hip injury.
The 24-year-old has impressed during his brief time at the London Stadium since his January arrival and forced his way into David Moyes’ starting XI.
But the Czech Republic international is now set to miss some huge fixtures, as the club try to pull themselves out of the relegation zone in the Premier League table.
Soucek will miss league games against Southampton, Arsenal and Wolverhampton Wanderers if his three-week diagnosis is accurate.
The central midfielder has added some extra physicality and work-rate to the West Ham side, but they will need to find a way without him in the coming weeks.
A selection of West Ham supporters on social media believe the midfielder’s absence is a serious blow for them.
He has looked like a shrewd January addition for the club and was proving himself with a great display against Liverpool before his injury.
Here are some West Ham fans on Soucek:
