West Ham were dumped out of the Carabao Cup third round by League One side Oxford United on Wednesday night – and some of the club’s supporters on Twitter ripped into their player Robert Snodgrass for his performance.

The Hammers suffered a humiliating 4-0 defeat away to Oxford, who scored four times in the second-half to mark a famous night for them.

Elliot Moore, Matt Taylor, Tarique Fosu and Shandon Baptiste all got on the scoresheet for the hosts in the second period.

Manuel Pellegrini’s team have made a decent start in the Premier League so far this campaign and sit fifth in the table after six games.

But it was an embarrassing exit from the cup for them in midweek and suggested there is a lack of depth in the squad at the London Stadium.

A selection of West Ham supporters on social media picked out Snodgrass for major criticism.

He was one several individuals promoted to the side in the cup to try impress, but it showed why he’s started just one league games so far this campaign.

The right-winger drifted in and out of the contest against Oxford, as he struggled to provide a creative threat going forward.

He was substituted off in the second-half after a poor display and he may have damaged his chances of more minutes moving forward.
