Fulham completed the loan signing of Chelsea midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek in the final moments of deadline day on Monday, and West Ham United supporters have vented their frustration on Twitter – wishing their club made a move.

Loftus-Cheek, 24, was being linked with numerous clubs during deadline day. The Guardian initially claimed towards the end of September that both Aston Villa and West Ham wanted to sign the England international, with numerous clubs keen.

Despite Chelsea allowing Ross Barkley to join Aston Villa on loan, the Blues also sanctioned the loan exit of Loftus-Cheek – who earns an enormous £173,000 a week in wages (Sun). Fulham are the beneficiaries, signing him on a season-long loan.

West Ham opted against a move for Loftus-Cheek on deadline day with the player’s wages certainly a big stumbling block. However, the Hammers decided to sanction the exits of two central midfielders on deadline day.

Josh Cullen completed a move to Belgian side Anderlecht while Jack Wilshere was released. It leaves West Ham with just Mark Noble, Tomas Soucek and Declan Rice in central midfield – though Robert Snodgrass and Manuel Lanzini can deputise.

West Ham supporters are frustrated on Twitter to the news that Fulham have signed Loftus-Cheek on loan, amid reports that the Hammers were interested themselves. The majority are of the opinion that their club should have signed him.
