West Ham have been linked with West Brom goalkeeper Sam Johnstone – and some of the club’s fans on Twitter are extremely excited by the transfer speculation.
According to the Athletic, Johnstone could end up leaving West Brom in the summer with the team relegation-bound from the Premier League, albeit they do still have time to pull off a great escape.
It is explained that the Baggies wouldn’t stand in the way of him leaving, with the shot-stopper valued between £7.5million and £10million.
The report names West Ham as a possible destination for the 28-year-old if he is to leave at the end of the season.
Johnstone, who is enjoying his first season in the Premier League, is desperate to keep playing in the top division.
His performances this season saw him rewarded with a debut call-up to the England squad in the most recent international break, despite the fact he’s still waiting to earn his first cap.
He’s been kept extremely busy in a West Brom team that were leaking goals before Sam Allardyce took charge as manager, but so many times he was heroic in net.
A selection of West Ham supporters on social media believe he would be a top summer signing for them.
He’s already known to Irons boss David Moyes from his Manchester United days, and it’s also worth noting current West Ham goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski turns 36 later this month.
Here are some Hammers fans discussing Johnstone:
