West Ham are reportedly interested West Brom striker Salomon Rondon this summer – and some of the club’s supporters on Twitter have offered mixed reviews after his international performance.
The centre-forward started for Venezuela in a 0-0 draw against Brazil in the Copa America in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
He showed that he’s a strong target man that holds the ball up well, something he did to great effect last season during a loan spell with Newcastle United.
According to the Daily Star, West Ham are keen on signing the 29-year-old this summer to reinforce their forward options.
But the report details that he’s holding out for a permanent switch and return to Newcastle after a successful spell at St James’ Park.
Rondon scored 12 goals and supplied seven assists in just 33 games for Newcastle last season across all competitions.
The Star’s report also mentions Celta Vigo’s Maxi Gomez and Fulham’s Aleksandar Mitrovic as two more striker options being considered by West Ham this summer.
A selection of West Ham fans watched Rondon in action on the international stage and some believe he would be a great addition for them.
But others have suggested there is little chance they could actually sign the South American and one doesn’t believe he could make an impact.
Here are some West Ham fans commenting on Rondon:
Rondon with a solid show vs Brazil. Think he would be such a great, cheapish option for us this summer.

I’d be surprised if he doesn’t got to Newcastle!

There’s a few things in play here. The Rafa contract issue / delay, Bilic at WBA now might help us with a deal etc

Dude is an immovable object when he backs into defenders

Very strong, great aerial presence, and wastes few chances. Solid investment for west ham.
