West Ham fans discuss re-signing Diafra Sakho on Twitter, after becoming free agent

Diafra Sakho was released by French side Stade Rennais in December and remains a free agent despite the January window – and West Ham United supporters have urged their club to bring him back to the London Stadium.

Sakho, 30, left West Ham in January 2018 after a difficult start to the 2017-18 campaign – with a bonus issue surrounding his contract limiting him to the bench. Of his 14 league appearances before leaving in January 2018, all 14 were as a substitute.

It saw Sakho push for an exit from West Ham two years ago, and French side Rennes eventually signed the 13-time Senegal international. Get French Football News claimed the move cost Rennes a fee of £8.5million.

He played just 16 times for Rennes in three years, scoring only three times. Indeed, he went on loan to Turkish side Bursaspor for the entire 2018-19 campaign – but even there he only scored three times in 20 appearances.

This season, Sakho has managed to make the bench once for Rennes but has failed to gain any senior minutes and that saw the ex-Metz striker released just before the January window. However, he has failed to find a new club.

Many West Ham fans have become aware that the former Hammers, who scored 24 goals in 71 games for the east London side, is now a free agent. The majority of supporters are keen to see him come back.
