West Ham host Southampton on Saturday afternoon in a pivotal Premier League fixture – and some of the club’s fans on Twitter have insisted they want Jarrod Bowen to start.
The Hammers put in an encouraging display in their last game during the 3-2 loss to unbeaten league leaders Liverpool, but that doesn’t hide the fact they are in a tough situation.
David Moyes’ team go into the weekend sat 18th in the table and are in with a cluster of teams fighting relegation this season.
West Ham know a win will lift them out of the bottom three, as 17th-placed Aston Villa are a point above them and they have the Carabao Cup final against Manchester City this weekend.
A selection of West Ham supporters on social media have suggested that Bowen earns his first start following his January arrival from Hull City and want to see Moyes promote him to the XI.
The 23-year-old attacker has been given just two late cameo appearances from the bench so far, but he was signed to add some extra ammunition going forward.
The right-winger scored 17 goals this season for Hull in all competitions before his January transfer and he went close to score against Liverpool, but his one-on-one chance was saved by goalkeeper Alisson Becker.
Here are some West Ham fans on Bowen:
This has to be the team for Saturday:
Ngakia Diop Og Cress
Bowen Fornals Snodgrass Anderson
4141 which we played under Pelle

Jarrod Bowen needs to be starting games so he can start gelling with the team and score the goals that we drastically need if we’re gonna have any chance of winning games and stayin up ⚒⚒

Jarrod Bowen was unlucky to break the Liverpool defense only to see Allison fortunately see the chip hit him in the face. Bowen has the pace & football brain to hit teams on the break & win 1 on 1 with keepers. How about Antonio & Bowen & no centre forward?

Keep him play! He should start for Southampton and Bowen too

I’d start Bowen RW where he has proved best in his career.
I’ve seen some suggestions he should replace Anderson and play left…
Can’t see Moyes doing that he goes RW
Although it would be typical West Ham to not play him in his best position RW

Only played 10 minutes but Bowen looked really good in that time even having a chance to go level! He has to start the next game
