West Ham recorded a narrow win away to Everton on Friday night – and some of the club’s fans on Twitter hailed the performance of their consistent star Declan Rice.

The Hammers secured a 1-0 victory at Goodison Park in the Premier League fixture, with Tomas Soucek netting a late winner in the 86th minute when he tapped in a deflected shot.

It was certainly not a vintage display from David Moyes’ side and both teams struggled to create during the 90 minutes, but the visitors snatched the three points in the closing stages to leave them with 26 points from their opening 17 league games.

West Ham host Burnley in their next league fixture, but before that travel to Stockport in the FA Cup third round.

A selection of West Ham supporters on social media felt that their stand-in captain Rice was brilliant against Everton, with some majorly impressed with the combination that he’s got alongside Soucek in the centre of the park.

The 21-year-old is already a senior figure at the London Stadium at such a young age and the England international caught the eye on Friday.

He is an all-action central midfielder that was full of running on Merseyside, as he worked defensively to cover the back four and was combative in his approach.
