Ademipo Odubeko experienced a bittersweet occasion at Old Trafford on Tuesday night as West Ham went down 1-0 to Manchester United in the FA Cup.
The youngster was summonsed off the bench early in the second half, replacing the injured Andriy Yarmolenko.
His joy was shortlived though and after featuring for 58 minutes he was substituted off, with Manuel Lanzini replacing him with eight minutes of extra-time remaining.
Some supporters and pundits criticised David Moyes’ decision, claiming it could have ruined the youngster’s confidence before his first-team career has properly started.

Odubeko has been on the bench for the last four Premier League matches and also came off the bench against Stockport in the third round of the FA Cup.
The centre forward has been in fine form for the club’s under-18 ranks, scoring nine goals in seven appearances.
Clearly, he has ability but perhaps Moyes felt the occasion was just too much for him at Old Trafford.
At 18-years-old there is still plenty of time for the youngster to continue learning his trade ahead of more first-team chances.
Hammers fans have taken to Twitter to offer their support to the gem after his tough night at Old Trafford.
