Some West Ham supporters on Twitter were left stunned after their former player Jonathan Calleri produced a memorable performance on the European stage.

The ex-Hammers striker scored a hat-trick for Espanyol in a 3-2 victory against Premier League opposition Wolverhampton Wanderers on Thursday.

He netted his third goal of the contest in stoppage time to hand the Spanish club a win in the European second leg, but ultimately it was Wolves that progressed to the Europa League last-16 with a 6-3 aggregate victory.

Calleri was only used as a substitute in the first leg at Molineux, but certainly made his point with an eye-catching display on Thursday that showed a real composure in front of goal.

A selection of West Ham supporters on social media were amazed by their former star for his latest display.

The Argentine spent the 2016/17 campaign on a season-long loan with the Hammers, but he failed to make a serious impact in London and was considered a flop.

He scored just once in 21 games across all competition and was unable to make an impression in the Premier League.

The South American striker has impressed during loans at Las Palmas and Alaves since, but is now trying to continue his development with his loan at Espanyol.

The 26-year-old has five goals across all competitions so far this campaign and surely his Wolves display can act as a confidence boost for him.
