West Ham could now target 6ft 2inch striker who has 7 goals in Ligue 1

Despite all they’ve achieved over the past few seasons under David Moyes, West Ham United’s squad is crying out for a new striker.

Jarrod Bowen has done a stellar job when deployed at the number nine position, but he is still needed out wide on the wing.

Mohammed Kudus’ departure to AFCON is a timely reminder of how thin Moyes’ squad still looks with Michail Antonio lacking fitness and Danny Ings lacking the required quality.

That being said, the January transfer window once again looks like an excellent opportunity for West Ham to deliver Moyes a new striker.

And journalist Dean Jones has now provided a promising update on one target the club could pursue.

Talking to GIVEMESPORT, Jones thought West Ham could make a move for Montpellier striker Akor Adams who’s showing a lot of promise.

Jones alluded to West Ham’s desire to find lesser-known gems, thinking Adams could be a one they’re keeping an eye on.

He said: “Yeah, definitely, it’s a name that keeps cropping up and because of his decent goals record in France this season I would find it surprising if they weren’t keeping an eye on him because they have scouts working extensively in the area of Europe and their job is to uncover exciting transfer targets that might not quite be as firmly on the radar as of other Premier League clubs.”

West Ham could add striker Akor Adams to David Moyes’ squad in January

23-year-old Adams has enjoyed an excellent start to life in Ligue 1 this season.

The Nigerian striker has scored seven goals in his first 17 games in France, and has taken very little time to adjust.

Adams was always a promising talent whilst playing for Lillestrom in Norway, but his recent growth curve has surpassed all expectations.

The 6ft 2inch striker could prove a very smart signing for The Hammers, who do need to overhaul their striker department.

Perhaps both Antonio and Ings could depart in the coming year or so, and Adams could dovetail with another new signing.

David Moyes’ West Ham side are competing across a few competitions this year, with serious aspirations to win the Europa League, and they’ll need a striker in order to do so.

Thilo Kehrer’s departure, which contains an obligation to buy clause, should free up funds for activity in January.

And it would be surprising if a new forward wasn’t the club’s biggest priority.
