West Ham could be about to cause Arsenal a big transfer problem

Although West Ham United have already welcomed three new arrivals this summer, Arsenal are yet to announce a deal – unless you count David Raya.

Since Julen Lopetegui’s arrival, West Ham have completed high-profile transfers for Luis Guilherme and Max Kilman, as well as welcoming backup keeper Wes Foderingham to east London.

And although Mikel Arteta has sealed a deal for Raya permanently, Arsenal are still waiting on Riccardo Calafiori’s medical.

That being said, Edu and his transfer team should be allowed time, especially given that both the Euros and Copa America delayed things.

But in terms of Arsenal’s plans, it seems that the club will only welcome new players once a player leaves first.

So ideally by the time Calafiori arrives, the Gunners would have sold Jakub Kiwior for example.

Incidentally, Arsenal are willing to make an exception for Calafiori, but when it comes to signing players like Nico Williams, a forward will need to depart first.

And that’s where West Ham come in.

West Ham’s bid for Crysencio Summerville could cause frustration for Arsenal

West Ham are reportedly interested in signing Reiss Nelson this summer, someone Arsenal would likely allow to leave.

Arsenal have named their asking price for Nelson, and perhaps are hoping that the Hammers proceed with their interest.

However, it’s now been reported that West Ham are trying to sign Crysencio Summerville from Leeds United, another top class winger.

Fabrizio Romano reported the news saying that talks have taken place on the player’s side, even if a deal is considered expensive.

Of course, if West Ham decided to chase Summerville instead of Nelson it could prove a big issue for Arsenal.

Arteta wants Arsenal to sign Williams this summer, and will only be able to do so if the side are able to clear a spot in their attack first.

Barcelona are determined to beat Arsenal to Williams, explaining why the Gunners may need to act with some haste too.

Perhaps Marseille’s interest in Eddie Nketiah may help in that regard, a potential departure which would also free an attacking role.

Either way, Arsenal fans may now be keeping their fingers crossed that Summerville does transpire to be too expensive for Tim Steidten, who may then stick to the Nelson plan.
