West Ham have agreed a deal to sign Carlos Soler from PSG – but the Hammers are plotting another deadline day transfer as well.
In what has already been quite a busy deadline day, West Ham have agreed to let James Ward-Prowse move to Nottingham Forest on loan, having also shaken hands on a deal with PSG for Soler as Julen Lopetegui prepares to welcome his fellow Spaniard to east London.
Now – however – a Chelsea player is also in the sights of West Ham…
West Ham want to sign Carney Chukwuemeka from Chelsea
A story from the Guardian (12:05pm) now states that West Ham want to sign Carney Chukwuemeka from Chelsea before the 11pm deadline.
Jacob Steinberg claims that Tim Steidten – Director of Football at the London Stadium – is a huge admirer of the England U20 international, who Chelsea signed in a £20m deal from Aston Villa back in August 2022.
The Guardian believe West Ham remain in the running to sign Chukwuemeka despite agreeing a loan deal for another midfielder in Soler, which includes an option to buy next summer.

It is said that the 20-year-old is keen to play more regularly after making just two Premier League starts for Chelsea last season.
Incidentally, Crystal Palace are also keen to sign Chukwuemeka, so West Ham do not have a free run at the Chelsea No.17’s signature on transfer deadline day.
Tim Steidten could bring a huge talent to the London Stadium
Chukwuemeka is – quite simply – a massive talent, and West Ham would be securing a top prospect if Steidten can negotiate a deal with Chelsea, who are seemingly having a fire sale on transfer deadline day.

In case you missed it, Raheem Sterling is one big name who could depart Stamford Bridge, with Arsenal a potential destination for the England international, while Trevoh Chalobah is also expected to move.
Interestingly, Chukwuemeka was even wanted by Barcelona before his exit from Aston Villa, emphasising how precocious a talent the 20-year-old really is.
Unfortunately, the man from Eisenstadt has simply become a victim of Chelsea’s bizarre approach to recruitment, which could now end up benefitting West Ham – be sure to keep an eye on this situation.
