West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice put in another fine performance for the club on Monday night against Liverpool.
The 20-year-old fared much better against the Reds at the London Stadium compared to the reverse fixture at Anfield in the first gameweek.

Rice was excellent acting as a defensive shield for the Irons’ back four.
He made 13 ball recoveries and eight tackles in the game (via Scouted Football) – more than anyone alse on the pitch.
He was also tidy in possession and attempted to drive forwards on occasion.
It was a performance worthy of a seasoned Premier League player rather than a still up-and-coming youngster.

Rice is started to attract a lot of attention, but one man who perhaps should get some credit for the rise of the talented starlet is Mark Noble.
Noble’s influence has been obvious
One man who has been right there alongside Rice for most of the season has been club captain Noble.
With injuries to Carlos Sanchez and Jack Wilshere, Noble has had to play far more than was perhaps expected given his advancing years.

But he seems to have brought the best out of Rice and acts as a mentor for the current Republic of Ireland international.
Speaking back in December to the club’s official website, Noble said: “Declan is a top player and every day that I can help him along in his journey is something to be proud of.”
In the same article, the club stated that Noble ‘had taken a keen interest in Rice’s development since the teenager first joined the club at the age of 14, mentoring and guiding him along the path from promising scholar to first-team player, sharing his own experience and lending an ear whenever his young teammate has needed it.’

Watching the pair play together and their relationship off the pitch, it is clear to see how much the loyal Noble has helped Rice and perhaps his influence and example could see the coveted youngster remain at the club for years to come.
