Slaven Bilic is considering his options and is likely to ditch first choice goalkeeper Adrian in the summer, after the Spaniard has had three years as the club’s number one. The Mail say that Joe Hart, Simon Mignolet and Asmir Begovic are all being monitored after the former Real Betis goalkeeper’s poor start to the season.
Darren Randolph was chosen ahead of Adrian for the trip to Tottenham last weekend, with the Hammers having conceded the second highest amount of goals in the Premier League, much to the frustration of Slaven Bilic.
Another bold decision by Bilic may be to include Andy Carroll in the squad for the trip to Old Trafford on Sunday, with the former Newcastle forward nearing a return from injury and back in training having been out since August. Bilic revealed:
“He’s been training with us for three days. He came back after a long injury and he’s very close. He could be in the squad. We’re going to see, because we are not talking about two weeks of training. It has been this week, so we’ll see. Last year, before he got injured, when he was fit he makes an impact on a game, no matter who you play against. It’s very hard to play against him. The things he is giving us are great.”
The strong and tall forward would offer the Hammers a different kind of option to what they have in their squad and would be a welcome addition to a faltering front line.
Another option may arrive in January, as reports suggest that the club are preparing a January loan move for Chelsea’s Belgian forward Michy Batshuayi, who was a summer target for the club before he opted to move to Stamford Bridge.
The 23-year-old is yet to start a Premier League game for the Blues and is struggling for game time, with the Irons hoping that their London rivals will be open to him departing temporarily if he is guaranteed first team football as he would be at the London Stadium.
