The Daily Star sensationally claim that failure to take three points from the next two games, against former boss Sam Allardyce’s Crystal Palace and Middlesbrough, will result in the sacking of manager Slaven Bilic after the Croatian came under increasing pressure following the dismal thrashing at the hands of Manchester City in the FA Cup.
That would take the Hammer’s run without a win to five games but would also crucially allow two sides below them in the league to cut the distance and drag the Irons back into a relegation scrap at the bottom of the table despite a recent uplift in form.
To help fire them back up the table, the club have submitted a renewed offer worth £12.5 million for Brentford striker Scott Hogan according to the Daily Mail. The 24-year-old has already scored 14 goals in the Championship this season and could now step up to the Premier League, although the Bees may still hold out for a higher price.
Some fans have questioned the club’s plans to sign a player with no Premier League experience, though Hogan did follow in the footsteps of Leicester man Jamie Vardy and was his replacement at Northern Premier League Division One South side Stocksbridge Park Steels back in 2011.
Roma manager Luciano Spalleti has confirmed that his Serie A club is interested in West Ham winger Sofiane Feghouli only months after he joined the club on a free transfer as he revealed:
“We are keeping a close eye on the market and the names you have mentioned so far are correct. The focus is shifting towards Feghouli – that is true. You are writing it anyway, so there is no point disguising the fact. The other options have cooled rather. He is someone who will come to replace [Juan] Iturbe, who Torino have added to their squad. So far we have done well to cover the gaps, but playing every two or three days we are going to need to bolster our numbers a bit.”
Reports in Italy indicate that he could make a loan move to Rome this month, with an option to make the deal permanent for a fee of just over £10 million in the summer.
