West Ham United and Southampton are reportedly interested in signing Manchester City loanee Yangel Herrera as he continues to shine in Spain with La Liga side Granada – and recent reports have provided both clubs with a boost.
Herrera, 23, has starred for Granada over the past two seasons after joining the club on a two-year loan. He has since clocked up 77 appearances for the Spanish side, providing a crucial component of Granada’s European campaign.
Eventually knocked out by Manchester United, Granada reached the last eight of the Europa League – far further than many thought they would achieve. The Venezuela international is now nearing the end of his current loan spell.
AS claim that Granada have the option to purchase him permanently for £17million, but that they cannot afford such a figure. It means he could be up for grabs with the MEN claiming West Ham and Southampton are keen.

TBR’s view – £17million is a bargain for Herrera
Still very young, Herrera is already a player that has proven he is more than good enough for La Liga football – and has more than 20 caps for his country. Only 23, he can provide a Premier League club 10 years of quality.
So, for £17million, it is a no-brainer for any mid-table Premier League side. West Ham need a long-term replacement for Mark Noble and Herrera is a very similar kind of player – while the Saints need depth. A bargain for Herrera.
