West Ham United and Newcastle United are reportedly interested in raiding Juventus for defender Daniele Rugani this summer with the Italian some way down the pecking order – and supporters of both clubs have reacted on Twitter.
Rugani, 26, watched from the bench in Juventus’ opening Serie A match of the season – a 3-0 win over Sampdoria. He is expected to struggle for game time this season, with the Italy cap the club’s fifth choice centre-back under Andrea Pirlo.
Merih Demiral, Giorgio Chiellini, Leonardo Bonucci and Matthijs de Ligt are all considered above Rugani by Juve. Despite having a contract with the Old Lady until the summer of 2024, it is expected Rugani will be allowed to leave the club.
Sky Italy journalist Gianluca Di Marzio has claimed both West Ham and Newcastle are showing ‘strong interest’ in signing Rugani, while TuttoJuve claimed earlier this summer that defender Rugani is valued at £23million by Juventus.
West Ham are interested in landing a centre-back, with James Tarkowski being strongly linked with a move to east London. Newcastle have just allowed Florian Lejeune to return to Spain and join La Liga side Alaves on loan for the 2020-21 season.
West Ham fans responded, urging their side to sign Rugani – with one supporter claiming Rugani is better than Arsenal’s Calum Chambers, who has been linked with the Hammers.

Meanwhile, Newcastle fans are also keen on seeing Rugani move to England, but to Tyneside:
