Eric Dier brought up 250 appearances in the white of Tottenham during Sunday’s win at West Brom and afterwards earned praise on Instagram from Leeds United star Kalvin Phillips and West Ham hero Declan Rice.

The versatile Spurs player has been reborn under Jose Mourinho, quickly becoming one of Tottenham’s most important players at the heart of the defence.

Dier joined Spurs for £4 million back in 2014, penning terms from Sporting Lisbon as an England under-21 international.

The 26-year-old has worked his way into the hearts of Tottenham supporters having initially failed to convince them of his quality.

After bringing up the latest milestone he earned some praise from his fellow England teammates on Instagram, with Phillips and Rice leading the congratulatory messages.

One thing that has remained elusive for Dier at Tottenham is silverware and his aim this season will be to play a part in helping the club win something.

Mourinho is slowly but surely building something in North London and a recent 6-1 demolition of Manchester United sent a message to the Premier League.

Sunday’s win was far less convincing but ultimately it was a win that so often typifies that of a team who goes on to lift the title.

Dier has made 10 appearances this season with Tottenham unbeaten in the Premier League since the opening day of the campaign.

The beauty of the man with 11 goals and 11 assists from his 250 appearances is his versatility.

He can play at the back or in the holding midfield role and Dier is probably viewed by Mourinho as a manager’s dream.
