Marcus Rashford is a special talent
Although it has been less spectacular than last season, the 2016-17 campaign has still showed the talent that is possessed by Marcus Rashford. He is being used as an impact player by Jose Mourinho and is usually played on the wing, but he continues to impress. Rashford was named the man-of-the-match by Gary Neville on Sky Sports which emphasises the impact that he had on this match. He consistently had the beating of Havard Nordtveit and created several promising situations for his side.
It was his composure for the first goal that was most impressive. He managed to beat his man before cutting back onto his right foot and playing a good ball to Juan Mata, who fired in the opening goal. It was intelligence to take an extra touch inside, rather than firing a low cross into the six-yard box with his weaker foot. Rashford isn’t rushed in the final third and has an end product that most young players can only dream of. His rise to the top has been rapid, but he is being cleverly managed by Jose Mourinho. Rashford isn’t a flash in the pan. He is approaching 12 months as a first team player and he has shown that he has a future at the very top. That was evident on Monday.
