West Bromwich Albion will consider appointing Birmingham City boss Garry Monk as the club’s new manager this summer, according to the Daily Mail.
It is thought that the Baggies will pursue Monk’s services even if they fail in their quest to reach the Premier League through the play-offs.
James Shan is currently in caretaker charge of the club ahead of their play-off campaign. He is, however, likely to be replaced with a permanent successor to Darren Moore following the season.
Monk recently saw his Birmingham team hit with a nine-point deduction but he has guided them to safety. The Blues can finish 16th if they defeat Reading on Sunday in their final game.

The 40-year-old has previously managed Leeds and Middlesbrough in the Championship and the Baggies clearly want to tap into his vast experience.
TBR Verdict
Monk would be a very shrewd appointment by West Brom given the good work he has done at St Andrew’s.
The financial predicament at his current club could enhance the Baggies’ chances of tempting him into a switch.

There is also the prospect of Premier League football to consider. If Albion do go up then it seems like a no-brainer for Monk to opt for pastures new. If they fail in their quest, it is reasonable to suggest that they stand a better chance of promotion than Birmingham next season.
Albion could plump for bigger names than Monk but that doesn’t mean that he isn’t a safe pair of hands. The Baggies could do an awful lot worse than the former Swansea City boss.
