West Brom fans react to Sam Johnstone's display in loss against Leeds United
West Brom came away from their Championship heavyweight clash against Leeds United with nothing last night, suffering their first defeat of the league season.
The 1-0 reverse is an important win for Marcelo Bielsa’s side but there was no shortage of elements in the performance to hearten the Baggies fans.
The result is vastly improved from the 4-0 drubbing they got last term at Leeds and the display contained plenty of strong individual performances, and arguably should have earned a draw.
At the back, goalkeeper Sam Johnstone also kept his side in the game at times with a series of strong saves and the Albion supporters on Twitter were very impressed with his showing.

One supporter felt Johnstone proved the doubters wrong once more, with another rating the former Manchester United goalkeeper’s performance at Elland Road as a ten out of ten.
There’s a feeling that if West Brom can keep this up then they will have every chance of getting back to the Premier League this time around and Johnstone put in a display worthy of a top flight goalkeeper last night.
The fans loved it and there was plenty of love for the stopper on Twitter despite West Brom bringing no points back from Yorkshire…
Sam Johnstone fantastic tonight, an own goal away from one of the finest clean sheets he's likely to ever keep. Superb goalkeeping display & deserves huge credit tonight. The double save 1st half was outstanding. #wba

How the hell did we get nothing out of that game?? With Gayle that could have been a very easy victory. Nothing to fear from lucky Leeds though on the strength of that match. Johnstone superb again #wba #lufc

Johnstone kept us in that tonight. Its easy to look for positives after 1-0 but not 4-0.
Looking forward to the return of Hegazi too. Our most important player in many ways.
Recent results have upped expectations that aren't dampened overnight. Plenty to enjoy, and improve #wba

Disappointing result tonight 2nd half we were brilliant, Ajayi was solid as ever easily the bargain of the summer. Johnstone proving the doubters wrong again, onto Cardiff #wba

Pereira outstanding tonight. Deresrved a draw. Johnstone with a number of fantastic saves. We will be top 2 if we can keep this up. One thought… What would the score have been if we still had Gayle up front? #WBA

Really don’t feel that there’s any reason for any Albion fan to worry atm. We were fairly solid throughout the majority of that game tonight and in the second half I felt like we were dominating. Johnstone and Ajayi were the two standouts for me tonight. #wba #LEEWBA

Johnstone kept us in it to the end today with some brilliant saves, credit where it’s due please #wba

@wba unlucky tonight, played brilliantly with some great football just couldn't put it away. On another night could easily have won by 3. Some great performances especially Johnstone, Ajayi and Periera. We were the better team tonight for me. #WBA

We’d have been out of that game ages ago if it wasn’t for Johnstone. Some excellent saves. Also the defenders seemed a lot more comfortable passing from the back today. #wba

Thought we deserved at least a point. Shows how far we’ve come that we took it to Leeds 2nd half & they were holding on .. not too disappointed. Johnston top class 👏🏻! #SuperSlav #wba

Unlucky not to get something tonight. Semi was class, Johnstone was really good, we just missed the cutting edge in the end, still think we’re a striker short but realistically we were gonna lose at some point so lets bounce back Saturday #wba

Supreme effort, final ball lacking quality not given their keeper enough to do. Johnstone quality – on to Saturday 🔵⚪️ #wba
