A number of West Bromwich Albion fans have taken to Twitter to comment on Semi Ajayi’s display as the Baggies secured a 1-1 draw with Manchester City on Tuesday.
Slaven Bilic’s side produced an incredible effort to take a point from their clash at the Etihad Stadium. It looked bleak for the Baggies when they went 1-0 down on the half-hour mark.

But an equaliser just before the break and an amazing defensive display saw West Brom avoid defeat.
Understandably, Sam Johnstone is taking many of the plaudits following his outstanding effort in goal. But many fans seemed just as impressed by Ajayi’s display in front of him.

It arguably says a lot about what the defender’s task was that he completed just six accurate passes all night (via Whoscored). In contrast, Kyle Walker – who came on for the final 15 minutes – completed 14.
Ajayi played a crucial role in the equaliser. It was his shot that Ruben Dias deflected into his own net.
‘Amazing’
And according to Whoscored, the 27-year-old made nine clearances. Centre-back partner Dara O’Shea managed 10. But no other player on the pitch made more than three.
Ajayi – who earns £16,500-a-week, according to Spotrac – has been a fantastic signing for West Brom. And Tuesday’s display really highlighted that he has the ability to make a vital impact at the very highest level.
Here is how some of the fans reacted to his performance…
