A number of West Bromwich Albion fans have taken to Twitter to comment on reports from The Telegraph this week claiming that the Baggies have offered Matheus Pereira a new contract.

Pereira only joined West Brom permanently in the summer. He established himself as their talisman while on loan as Slaven Bilic’s side sealed promotion back to the Premier League.

It has been a tough start for the Baggies. But Pereira has continued to stand out. The 24-year-old already has one goal and two assists to his name.

As noted by The Telegraph, he signed a four-year deal at the Hawthorns following his £8.25 million switch. But it appears that he is already in line for fresh terms.

According to The Telegraph, West Brom have offered the Brazilian a new deal. It is noted that his pay could go from £30,000-a-week to £45,000-a-week. And his contract will be extended by at least one further year.

It remains to be seen if Pereira decides to extend his contract. But given that he is in line for improved terms so soon after he agreed an initial deal, you would imagine that he would be open to committing more of his future to the club.

And unsurprisingly, the news has gone down incredibly well amongst West Brom fans on social media.

Pereira has been the standout performer throughout Bilic’s tenure. And if the club are going to be able to bounce back after their underwhelming start, you would imagine that it will be the winger who drives them forward.

Here is how some of the fans have reacted to the reports…
