West Brom fans react as club reportedly eye Everton star again

West Bromwich Albion are reportedly looking to bring Mason Holgate back to the Hawthorns this summer on a season-long loan deal – and Baggies fans are desperate to see the Everton star signed.

The Express & Star has claimed that West Brom are close to completing a £1.5million move for QPR defender Darnell Fisher, which will finally ease their right-back woes. But they may not stop there.

Indeed, the report claims that the club remain keen on bringing Holgate back to the Midlands, after he shone during the second half of the 2018-19 campaign with West Brom – mainly playing as a right-back.

Also able to play centre-back, Holgate clocked up 23 appearances for West Brom and was crucial in their run to the play-offs. He even scored once and laid on four assists for the Midlands outfit.

Slaven Bilic wants to bring him back to West Brom this summer despite the imminent signing of Fisher. However, it is believed a move is far from being completed as Everton are mulling over whether they need to keep Holgate.

Everton have allowed Jonjoe Kenny to move to German side Schalke, while Phil Jagielka was released and has since joined Sheffield United. Holgate may be kept as cover, but West Brom are keen to tempt Everton into a loan deal.

West Brom fans reacted on Twitter to the news that they could be about to sign Holgate, and many are desperate to see the former Barnsley star return. A loan is expected, with Everton likely to want to keep their £2million (ESPN), 2015 signing.
