Marcos Rojo is a red card waiting to happen

It is important to have reliable players that aren’t likely to do anything to put the team at risk. This is why players like David Luiz, Diego Costa and Mario Balotelli have caused controversy in England. There is a similar debate emerging about Marcos Rojo and at this current point in time, he can’t be relied upon. He has twice been lucky to stay on the pitch after two-footed lunges in previous matches, but against West Brom, he was involved in controversy once again. This time he got into a war-of-words with Salomon Rondon. Although he wasn’t the one that overstepped the line, that was Rondon, he was still involved and that is a concern for United fans.

The disappointment is that he has been excellent defensively and he should be praised for that, but instead people are focusing on his discipline or lack of it. During the match, he made three ball retrievals, won three aerial duels and completed 87% of his passes. It was a great defensive display and he played a vital part in the clean sheet. However, at the moment, it seems only a matter of time before he costs Manchester United in a big way. In their current position, United can’t afford to be have a player like him in their side. They need to work on that on the training ground or it could come back to haunt them in a big way.
