Wes Foderingham was Rangers’ number one choice last season but has lost his spot between the sticks under Steven Gerrard.
Rangers have instead been using veteran stopper Allan McGregor as their first choice goalkeeper and his performances have been solid and reliable.
But the 37-year-old was recently handed a two-game suspension for a reckless challenge on Lewis Ferguson.
Rangers lost the appeal and were forced to use Foderingham against St Johnstone last weekend in what was the Englishman’s fifth game of the campaign.
And Foderingham proved a point to his doubters by producing a man of the match display to earn Rangers a point.
The 28-year-old produced two notable saves and was solid throughout as Rangers picked up a 0-0 draw against St Johnstone.

And he is in line to start again as Rangers prepare for their midweek cup tie. On Wednesday, Rangers host Kilmarnock in the Fifth Round replay of the Scottish Cup.
With McGregor still unavailable, Foderingham has yet another chance to permanently wrestle back the starting spot.
McGregor will be tough to replace on a permanent basis but Foderingham has the chance to save his long-term Rangers career.
With his two-year deal ending in summer 2020, it is likely that McGregor will not play beyond that.
If Foderingham wants to prove why he can be McGregor’s long-term successor and win back his spot, then he needs to repeat his heroics from last weekend.
