'We're told': Sky Sports reporter has just shared fresh Dele Alli update on-air

Tottenham Hotspur playmaker Dele Alli is reportedly on the verge of signing for Everton on a permanent deal.

The Spurs midfielder has been struggling for game time at N17 and has regularly been linked with a move away.

Meanwhile, the Toffees are in real need of bolstering their midfield ranks.

According to Sky Sports, Tottenham and Everton have been in talks over a £40million move for Alli.

Those discussions reportedly involve Spurs chairman Daniel Levy and managing director of football Fabio Paratici.

Initially, it was thought any move was a long way from completion, claimed Sky Sports.

However, a breakthrough has reportedly been made in those talks and a medical has now been booked in.

New Everton boss Frank Lampard apparently played a key role in persuading the Tottenham man to opt for Goodison.

Alli feels Lampard “can get the best out of him”

Sky Sports reporter Kaveh Solhekol has just provided a fresh update on those discussions.

“Everton are closing in on signing Alli from Spurs in a deal which could be worth up to £40million,” he said (31/1, 17:08).

“The medical has been booked in and he’ll sign a two-and-a-half-year contract.

“We’re told Frank Lampard was key in this deal getting done. He spoke to the player, and Alli feels he can get the best out of him.

“Since Mauricio Pochettino left Spurs he’s had a difficult relationship with the managers there, Mourinho and Conte, and needs a fresh start.

“He’s been at Spurs for a long time now. I know people think he’s lost his way now but he’s someone who was PFA Young Player of the Year twice.

“If anyone can get the best out of him, you’d think it would be someone like Frank Lampard.”

Spanish club Valencia were reportedly also considering a move for Alli’s services.

However, it looks as though Everton are all-but assured of landing the Tottenham playmaker.
