A number of Arsenal fans have been commenting on Twitter about the report claiming Mikel Arteta has spoken to former Gunners man Andrey Arshavin to gather details about Zenit St. Petersburg’s Sardar Azmoun.
The 25-year-old has only been with the Russian giants since February 2019, in a £10.8million deal from Rubin Kazan, but he’s already clocked up 26 goals and 10 assists from just 45 appearances for his new side.
Such great form has seen Azmoun linked with a move away, Area Napoli claiming interest in the £22.5million-rated ace from Arsenal, West Ham, Leicester City, Bayer Leverkusen, AC Milan and Napoli.
Arshavin is currently on Zenit’s transfer committee and would have a say if Azmoun was to leave the Russian giants this summer.
The Gunners, meanwhile, are seemingly sweating over the futures of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, whose contract expires next summer, and Alexandre Lacazette, who is also being linked with a move away.
Area Napoli claims Arteta has been in contract with his former teammate over the Iran international forward, a report which went down well with plenty of Arsenal fans.

As Iranian Arsenal fan I can tell all other Arsenal fans that this will be a great signing. Tall, physical and scores lots of important goals. Not an Auba replacement but a great player!
