John Terry has now posted a tweet about the referees’ initial decision to send Newcastle United defender Kieran Trippier off against Manchester City today.
Tripper thought he had been sent-off by referee Jarred Gillett in the second-half against City today.
The England international put in a robust challenge on Kevin De Bruyne and was shown a red by Gillett.
But the referee was then advised by the Video Assistant Referee to rewatch the incident and it was changed to a yellow card.
And Chelsea legend John Terry thinks the referee made the correct decision.

Terry posts tweet about refereeing decision
Taking to Twitter, Terry congratulated Gillett for reverting the decision and feels it was not a red card offence.
The post reads: “Well done referee. Not a red card for me!”
Trippier would have been disappointed to be sent off after scoring a superb free-kick in the second-half.
It did seem like a harsh decision from the referee, despite the fact that Trippier’s foot was quite high when he made the challenge.
It was a brilliant game at St James’ Park today and Eddie Howe’s men went toe-to-toe with the Premier League champions.
Ilkay Gundogan put Pep Guardiola’s men ahead early on in the game, but Newcastle came straight back into it and went in 2-1 up at half-time.
And Trippier’s sublime free-kick looked to have put Newcastle out-of-reach. But City turned on the style to come back and earn a point.

It was certainly a promising performance from Howe’s men and the red card could have ruined what was a brilliant spectacle.
While Trippier’s foot was high when he made the tackle, it probably didn’t merit a red card.
The Newcastle players and Tripper himself looked completely shocked when Gillett pulled out the red card. But they would have been relieved when the referee reviewed his decision and instead handed the Englishman a yellow.
