Sheffield United have officially confirmed the signing of Oli McBurnie. The striker arrives at Bramall Lane for a club record fee from Swansea City.

McBurnie joined the Swans in 2015, and was sent out on a number of loan spells before breaking into the first team at the Liberty Stadium in 2017. He led the line for the Welsh outfit throughout last season and enjoyed a fine campaign. In 42 Championship appearances, the 23-year-old registered 22 goals and four assists.

Chris Wilder will be hoping the Scot can replicate that form in the Premier League. The Blades will need their strikers to take chances this season if they’re to survive in the top flight. Having laid out an initial £17.5 million, which could rise to £20 million, for McBurnie, Wilder will be looking to him to help fire the Blades to safety.

However, McBurnie will face competition for a starting place at Bramall Lane from the likes of Billy Sharp, David McGoldrick and fellow summer signing Lys Mousset. Wilder will be looking to cultivate a healthy sense of rivalry between his forward contingent. His collection of forwards certainly possesses an exciting blend of youth and experience.
