Mohamed Salah has claimed that his future is not up to him – and some Liverpool fans have been left extremely anxious by his comments.
The 28-year-old attacker is a key figure at Anfield, scoring 119 goals in 192 Reds appearances.
Despite the fact it’s been a challenging season so far, the Egyptian forward has 25 goals across all competitions, and has helped fire his side to the Champions League quarter-finals.
When asked if it was time to leave Anfield after four years on Merseyside, he responded:
“It’s not up to me. We’ll see what happens but I prefer not to talk about that now,” Salah told Marca.

Reading between the lines it sounds like Salah may be fishing for a new deal, something his agent would be working on.
The left-footed attacker is still under contract with Liverpool until 2023, but it’s crucial to have the world-class stars in the squad tied down to long-term deals.
If Salah were to exit, it would leave a gigantic chunk of goals missing from Jurgen Klopp’s team.
The club should be working hard on tying down his future, as he’s the individual more than most that has kept performing amid an injury crisis and difficult campaign.
He can be greedy in possession, but has become a world-class talent so trying to replace him would surely cost a fortune.
A selection of Liverpool supporters on social media are worried that Salah has indicated his future could be elsewhere:
