‘We’ve been told…’: Sky journalists share latest update on Mudryk state of play amid Arsenal and Chelsea links

The transfer saga involving Arsenal and Mykhaylo Mudryk continues to rumble on.

On Thursday, the reported Gunners target appears to have liked yet more social media posts linking the two together.

Arsenal now also have to contend with Chelsea, who are reported to be in talks with Shakhtar Donetsk over Mudryk.

Indeed, Shakhtar director Darijo Srna was pictured in London on Thursday.

He will reportedly be at the Premier League meeting between Chelsea and Manchester City.

On Thursday afternoon, Sky Sports News issued further updates on the Mudryk saga.

First, Kaveh Solhekol looked at Chelsea’s interest in the player.

He said (5/1/23, 17:52): “Mykhailo Mudryk is a player Chelsea are interested in. Lots of big clubs are interested in him.

“Officials from Shakhtar Donetsk are in London at the moment.

“We’ve been told they will be attending the game between Chelsea and Man City this evening.”

Then, Dharmesh Sheth covered the state of play between Arsenal and Mudryk.

The good news is that the 21-year-old’s stance hasn’t changed. He still wants to join the Gunners.

However, it doesn’t look as though Arsenal have made much progress in terms of striking a deal with Shakhtar.

“Arsenal still appears to be Mykhailo Mudryk’s number one choice,” Sheth said on Sky Sports News (5/1/23, 17:57).

“We understand talks are continuing between Arsenal and Shakhtar to try and find a compromise in the price because the Gunners don’t want to go as high as £85m.

“Maybe they could get there with complicated conditions and add-ons. But as far as Mudryk is concerned, he continues to show his apparent love for Arsenal.”

Anxious times for Arsenal regarding Mudryk talks

Arsenal fans will no doubt be looking on nervously with regards to news about Mudryk.

For a number of months, the Gunners looked to have a clear path towards the signing of the exciting forward.

However, Chelsea have been watching and, given Arsenal didn’t manage to strike an early deal, have decided to step in.

It would be heartbreaking if Mudryk went on to join Chelsea, considering how much he wants to link up with the Gunners.

But at the end of the day, he is Shakhtar’s asset, they want as much as they can for him, and they don’t owe Arsenal anything.
